The “SITOLUB – Simulation Tool for the Design of Safe and Sustainable Lubricants” projects's primary objective is to create a comprehensive digital platform capable of assessing the safety and sustainability aspects of lubricants, including their toxicity to humans, ecotoxicity to the environment, and potential risks to workers. By leveraging molecular dynamic models and tribological simulations, the project aims to provide holistic guidance for designing eco fluids such as coolants, greases, and oils. The innovative tools developed by the project will not only predict the performance and durability of lubricants but also estimate energy consumption during use and anticipate material degradation. This forward-thinking approach will enable manufacturers to design lubricants tailored to specific applications, including wind turbines, electric cars, and waterborne systems.
