Upgrading buildings is essential to reducing CO2 emissions and achieving the sustainability goals Europe has set for 2050. In fact, according to European Union data, buildings account for 40 percent of energy consumption and a resulting 36 percent of greenhouse gas emissions. Despite this, the annual renovation rate is consistently less than 1 percent. This is due to the high cost of interventions and a lack of technology and skilled labor with which to sustain high renovation rates.
DIAMANT focuses on efficiency and cost reduction of prefabricated wood systems with the goal of encouraging the use of alternatives to traditional solutions and increasing the renovation rate. In particular, it aims to increase the productivity of the construction industry through the digitization of the entire supply chain. This process involves optimizing the information flow from the surveying and design stages to production and installation, improving information management and reducing the propagation of errors between stages. At the same time, DIAMANT aims to enhance the use of local materials and minimize waste by implementing a methodology that maximizes efficiency and intelligent use of resources.
The project involves the development of a digital platform supported by flexible and adaptable digital tools designed to be replicated in the future by local companies interested in a more industrialized and digitized approach to the construction of prefabricated systems for building energy rehabilitation.
